Had to clean the blood off my hands this morning - but don't worry, it wasn't mine.

The friend I'm staying with learnt today that 2-and-a-half year-olds and ceramic bowls don't mix. She was going to put the bowl in the sink (as she does with her plastic cup) when she fell and got a 1.5 cm cut. They're now en route to hospital, sent by the doctor to get it glued.

The other thing we learnt is how brave a child can be. Her heart was racing when I picked her up after her fall, so her calmness was partly shock, I think, but not severe as she's quite lucid. At one point, with the bandaid failing to stop the bleeding, she waved her hand, splattering blood across the floor, going "Yucky," and then asking "tissue".  She apparently still hasn't cried except when the doctor touched her hand.

Once again, glad to play the uncle, rather than be a parent right now.
