Wikinews is a new and still small project, but it's looking good. The whole "not censored" philosophy of Wikimedia projects, along with the diversity of the wiki community (well, relative to the mainstream news journalist community, anyway), the openness of editing and principle of
NPOV makes for potentially a much more balanced and interesting source of news. Much as I love my
ABC, there are some stories they just don't cover. For example:
I notice that on the
Wikinews blog, they've borrowed the tagline of the satirical news program
CNNNN - "
We report, you believe." Very amusing - of course the blog is not an official Wikimedia site, but I'm in two minds about that kind of humor from an organization doing serious news.
